Weather Forecast for the Yogyakarta Special Region Today: Southern Coastal Areas to Experience Rain Throughout the Day
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) of the Yogyakarta Special Region has released the weather forecast for the region today, Tuesday (24/2/2026). Some areas are still likely to experience rain with varying intensities, and some areas are predicted to experience rain throughout the day.
Yogyakarta City
As reported on the official Instagram account of BMKG DIY, @infobmkgyia, light rain is expected to fall across the entire area of Yogyakarta City starting in the afternoon, including the Malioboro area.
Sleman
Light rain is also predicted to fall across most of the Sleman region starting in the afternoon, including the Prambanan temple area and its surroundings. However, in the Kaliurang area, and the slopes of Mount Merapi, namely the Pakem, Turi, and Cangkringan sub-districts, rain is not expected. The weather is predicted to be cloudy throughout the day.
Bantul
Light rain is predicted to fall evenly across the entire Bantul region starting in the afternoon. However, in the coastal tourist areas throughout Bantul, such as Parangtritis Beach, rain will fall throughout the day.
Kulon Progo
Light rain is also expected to fall across parts of Kulon Progo throughout the day, including the coastal tourist areas of Kulon Progo, such as Glagah Beach, and Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA). However, in the Menoreh hills area, such as Samigaluh and Girimulyo, heavy rain accompanied by lightning is expected to occur starting in the afternoon.
Gunungkidul
Light rain is expected to fall across most of the Gunungkidul region starting in the afternoon. However, in the coastal tourist areas throughout Gunungkidul, such as Indrayanti Beach, rain will fall from morning to night.
