Weather Forecast for the Yogyakarta Special Region Today: Rain Expected Throughout the Day

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) of the Yogyakarta Special Region has released the weather forecast for the region today, Monday (23/2/2026). Rain is expected across the entire region with varying intensities throughout the day.

Yogyakarta City

According to the official BMKG Yogyakarta Instagram account, @infobmkgyia, light rain is expected across Yogyakarta City, including the Malioboro area, from morning to evening.

Sleman

Light rain is predicted across the Sleman region, including the Prambanan Temple area, from morning to evening. However, in the Kaliurang area and the slopes of Mount Merapi, specifically in the Pakem, Turi, and Cangkringan sub-districts, heavier rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected from noon onwards.

Bantul

Light rain is predicted across the Bantul region, including the coastal tourist areas such as Parangtritis Beach, from morning to evening.

Kulon Progo

Light rain is expected across the Kulon Progo region, including the coastal tourist areas such as Glagah Beach and Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA), throughout the day. However, in the Menoreh hills area, such as Samigaluh and Girimulyo, heavier rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected from noon onwards.

Gunungkidul

Light rain is expected across most of the Gunungkidul region, including the coastal tourist areas such as Indrayanti Beach, from morning to evening.
