Weather Forecast for 5 June 2026: Cyclonic Circulation and Heavy Rain Warning

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued an early warning regarding the weather forecast for Friday, 5 June 2026. The formation of a cyclonic circulation in the Pacific Ocean north of Papua is the main factor triggering a significant increase in the growth of rain clouds in several regions of Indonesia. This cyclonic circulation system causes the formation of wind confluence areas (convergence) and wind slowdowns (confluence) extending from the Papua Highlands to Central Papua. Additionally, convergence areas were observed in the northern waters of Aceh and Central Sulawesi, which could increase the intensity of extreme weather in the surrounding areas. Communities in Maluku, Central Papua, and Papua Highlands are urged to be aware of the potential for heavy to very heavy rainfall that could trigger subsequent impacts. The combination of the cyclonic circulation north of Papua and the broadly extending convergence areas massively increases the supply of water vapour. This supports intensive convective cloud growth, especially in the Eastern Indonesia region. BMKG also noted conditions in Jakarta (Gambir) were observed to be partly cloudy with a temperature of 27°C the previous night, whilst Bandung (Citarum) was at 22°C with cloudy conditions. The public is expected to remain vigilant, especially those in yellow zones, regarding the potential for moderate to heavy rainfall. Always monitor weather information updates through official BMKG channels for appropriate mitigation measures.
