BMKG forecasts that weather in Indonesia for 9–12 March 2026 will generally be dominated by light to moderate rain.

Based on the weekly outlook issued by BMKG, there are areas where rainfall of moderate to heavy intensity is expected to increase, including Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, the Riau Islands, Jambi, South Sumatra, the Bangka Belitung Islands, Bengkulu, Lampung, Banten, the Jakarta Capital Region (DKI Jakarta) and West Java.

In addition, areas across Java Central, Yogyakarta, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Maluku, Maluku, Southwest Papua, West Papua, Central Papua, Papua Pegunungan (Papua Highlands), Papua and South Papua are also covered.

Moreover, heavy rainfall possibly accompanied by lightning and strong winds may occur, with standby levels and potential regions of concern as follows:

  • Standby: very heavy rain with lightning in East Java, East Nusa Tenggara, and South Sulawesi. Strong winds also forecast in Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, and South Papua.

With the ongoing atmospheric dynamics, BMKG urged the public and stakeholders to remain vigilant for extreme weather that could lead to hydrometeorological hazards, such as heavy rain with lightning and strong winds.
