Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait conducted a visit to Menteng Tenggulun, South Jakarta, as part of the slum house renovation and area revitalisation efforts. Based on observations by CNBC Indonesia on Friday (24/4/2026), the Minister, often called Ara, arrived at the site around 14:15 WIB. Ara then checked the design of the slum area, which will be revitalised into a tidier neighbourhood. After viewing the construction design, Ara inspected two houses undergoing renovation. While examining the houses being renovated, Ara also viewed several paintings intended as educational media for the local community about Indonesia. During the inspection, Ara requested that the renovating houses use tiles for the roofs and not corrugated iron or asbestos. “This house renovation’s roof must not use corrugated iron or asbestos; it must use tiles, and the tiles must be from Majalengka and Jatiwangi,” said Ara while inspecting the house renovation on Friday (24/4/2026). Not only house renovations, Ara also requested that the surrounding community, who are also SMEs, be further empowered. “We are not only renovating houses and revitalising slum areas, but also empowering SMEs to level up,” she explained. If the house renovation programme and the revitalisation of the Menteng Tenggulun area succeed, it will be made an example for other regions. “If this succeeds, it can be an example for other regions, the house renovation programme and slum area revitalisation in other areas like Bandung, Medan, and others,” she clarified.
