Weapons Case at South Jakarta School: Forensic Lab Conducts DNA Sample Tests

The National Police’s Forensic Laboratory (Puslabfor) has been deployed to test DNA samples in the investigation into the discovery of hundreds of weapons at a private school foundation in Pondok Pinang, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. On Monday (10/8), the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police, together with the National Police’s Puslabfor, conducted a crime scene investigation. Head of the Criminal Unit at the South Jakarta Criminal Investigation Department, Ipda Alpino de Tech, stated that a total of three rooms were examined during the crime scene investigation yesterday. These were the room of the former head of the foundation’s management, the secretary’s room, and the foundation’s facilities and infrastructure room. “DNA samples from the three rooms have all been taken, with the aim of checking who entered or who has been in contact with the three rooms,” Alpino told reporters on Monday evening. In addition to testing DNA samples, Alpino said Puslabfor was also involved in checking for any items related to firearms, air guns, ammunition, or spare parts of weapons. Alpino conveyed that following the crime scene investigation, the police line that had been installed was removed. This was done so that the location could be used again by the school foundation. “With the examination by Puslabfor, the DNA and the weapons parts have been checked, we then opened the police line so it can be utilised by the foundation in accordance with the provisions,” he said. Alpino previously stated that the crime scene investigation was carried out to ensure there were no more items suspected of being dangerous within the school environment. During the crime scene investigation, he said, his team again found a number of airsoft guns and ammunition. The evidence has been secured for further examination. “The findings are the same, there are airsoft guns, there is also ammunition, there are airsoft gun magazines, and spare parts for weapons, for example shooting targets and gun grips. That’s it. In total, there are 30 items found by Puslabfor related to weapons, air guns, ammunition, and spare parts,” he said. “The airsoft guns, according to Puslabfor, are already damaged and no longer intact,” he continued. Previously, hundreds of weapons of various types were found at a private school foundation in Pondok Pinang, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. “The discovery was 995 airsoft guns, consisting of 776 revolver-type airsoft guns and 215 pistol-type airsoft guns,” said South Jakarta Metro Police Head of Public Relations, AKP Joko Adi Wibowo, to reporters on Friday (7/8). “At that time, four air rifles were also found. In addition, one firearm of the Francispa brand was discovered, along with four factory-made long-barrel gun barrels,” he added. Furthermore, on Wednesday (5/8), three airsoft guns were also found, consisting of an FN90, an AK-47, and an M4 Carbine. Joko stated that the firearm and long-barrel gun barrels have been secured at the South Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit. Meanwhile, the airsoft guns have been entrusted to the Firearms and Explosives Supervision Unit of the Metro Jaya Regional Police’s Intelligence and Security Directorate. Besides the weapons, Joko said, narcotics were also found on Wednesday, consisting of two joints suspected to be marijuana and one packet suspected to be methamphetamine. The narcotics discovery is currently being followed up by the South Jakarta Police Narcotics Unit.
