We are one nation
We are one nation
From Media Indonesia
Honestly, I do not know much about political matters but every time I read news reports on the political affairs of our nation, I get angry and disgusted. Why is it that our nation, which other nations used to call the gem of the equator and which many countries fought to conquer, is now, after being independent for over half a century, still embroiled in clashes prompted by racial and religious differences? Why do we still feel envious of one another while the world is embarking upon a new millennium and liberalized trade will come into effect sometime in 2003?
Are we not indeed one nation? The Indonesian nation. We speak one language, the Indonesian language, no matter whether we have a Chinese, Javanese or Sundanese background, or profess Islam Christianity or Buddhism. United we stand, divided we fall. May my nation, the Indonesian nation, be glorious.
