Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian national skateboarding team member Ni Wayan Malana Fairbrother advanced to the quarterfinals of the women’s street at the Skateboarding World Championships 2025 in São Paulo, Brazil.

Malana secured a top ten finish by placing seventh in the qualification round. She posted a score of 33.44 to secure a place in the quarterfinals, according to World Skate.

In her first run, Malana started by conquering the downrails. However, she came unstuck on the second downrail obstacle, leaving her in 11th place with 14.42.

The SEA Games 2025 silver medallist in women’s street from Thailand then rallied on her second run. She cleared the obstacles one by one and wowed the crowd with a frontside flip.

That superb performance was rewarded with a 33.44 from the judges, propelling her from 13th after the first run to the top of the standings.

Malana is assured of advancing to the quarterfinals even though one heat remains unstarted, as she finished in the top ten to the final heat.

Meanwhile, in the women’s park event, Mikhayla Caya and Bunga Cinta will begin their qualifying rounds.

In the men’s section, Sanggoe Tanjung and SEA Games 2025 Thailand gold medallist Basral Graito Hutomo will begin their efforts in the qualifying rounds.

The Indonesian national skateboard team has been holding a national training camp in Bali since 1 February and will run until 19 September 2026 as preparation for the 2026 Nagoya Asian Games.
