JAKARTA — A member of Commission II of the House of Representatives from the PKB faction, Indrajaya, has called on the government to evaluate the regional head retreat programme initiated by President Prabowo Subianto.

The request was made following the arrest of numerous regional heads through anti-corruption operations (OTT) conducted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK).

“The regional head retreat programme requires serious evaluation,” Indrajaya stated in an official statement on Tuesday, 10 February 2026.

According to Indrajaya, the regional head retreat programme needs to be re-examined to ensure its substance is genuinely capable of building integrity among public officials.

He emphasised that the recent wave of anti-corruption operations against regional heads demonstrates that integrity development programmes for local officials have not been implemented effectively.

“This wave of anti-corruption operations is an indicator of failure in developing regional leadership. The repeated operations show that integrity development for public officials has not touched the most fundamental moral aspects,” Indrajaya said.

He believes that public official development should prioritise the instilling of moral values.

“Disciplinary approaches, physical training, or semi-military methods may form part of the development, but the main challenge of leadership in the digital government era lies in the ethics of exercising power,” Indrajaya stated.

He also referenced Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq’s admission following his arrest that he did not understand the regulations due to his background as an entertainer.

“This statement indicates serious failure in the political cadre development process. Political parties should serve as schools of leadership that ensure regional head candidates understand government administration, professional ethics, and state administrative law,” he asserted.

It was previously reported that the Anti-Corruption Commission conducted two anti-corruption operations against regional heads in early March 2026.

First, the KPK arrested Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq, along with his aide and associate in Semarang in the early hours of Tuesday, 3 March 2026.

The operation was related to suspected corruption in procurement of goods and outsourcing services within Pekalongan Regency Government.
