Water Supply in 45 Jakarta Sub-districts Potentially Disrupted Due to Electricity Substation Maintenance
PLN’s electricity substation maintenance will impact water services in 45 sub-districts across Jakarta. The maintenance will take place on Friday (June 5th) from 11:00 PM to Saturday (June 6th) at 1:00 AM.
During the maintenance period, some customers may experience reduced water pressure or temporary water supply interruptions. Akhmad Santika, Director of Technical Affairs at PAM Jaya, stated that they have prepared alternative water supplies from other installations to minimize the impact on customers.
“We have prepared an alternative supply scheme from other installations to reduce the impact on customers. After the Pejompongan I Water Treatment Plant resumes operations, we will also increase water production above normal levels for about 6 to 8 hours to accelerate the restoration of pressure and normalize services in the affected areas,” said Santika, quoted on Thursday (June 4th).
PAM Jaya will divert water supply from the Pejompongan II and Buaran I Water Treatment Plants, with a total supply of 1,170 liters per second.
The affected areas include 45 sub-districts in Central Jakarta, West Jakarta, South Jakarta, and North Jakarta, which are within the service area of the Pejompongan I Water Treatment Plant.
Meanwhile, Syahrul Hasan, Director of Operations at PAM Jaya, said that service normalization will be carried out gradually after the maintenance is completed.
“Areas close to the Pejompongan I Water Treatment Plant are expected to gradually return to normal on Saturday, June 6th, at 3:00 AM. Subsequently, the supply will be restored to reach the farthest service areas, including the Northern Region,” he said.
To assist customers during the disruption, he has prepared free water tanker services for both residential customers and public facilities such as hospitals, places of worship, and social foundations.
PAM Jaya has begun to regulate 15 staff quarters in the Pejompongan II Water Treatment Plant area, Bendungan Hilir, Central Jakarta.
The Provincial TP PKK (Family Welfare Empowerment and Prosperity Mobilization Team) of DKI Jakarta, together with Daya Wanita PAM Jaya, distributed hundreds of free water tanks to residents.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is accelerating efforts to achieve 100% clean water service coverage by opening up opportunities for international investment.
The effectiveness of clean water services depends not only on the pipeline infrastructure but also on household-level storage management.
PAM Jaya is committed to accelerating the expansion of clean water services to cover all areas of DKI Jakarta by 2029.
