Water supply firm gets ISO 9002

TANGERANG (JP): The regency-owned water supply company (PDAM) here has received an international ISO 9002 certificate, the company's president, Dadan Hendra Sambas, said on Friday.

"The certificate will be presented on Jan. 23 by the British certification body," Dadan told reporters.

He said the ISO 9002 certificate proved the company managed to satisfy its 80,000 customers consistently.

The certificate is given after the company passed tests on production system, water distribution and human resources, Dadan said.

"If we do not maintain the achievement, the certificate could be revoked after three months," he added.

He called on Tangerang residents to keep the Cisadane river clean because it was the company's water source.

At least 1,061 industrial and residential buildings stand along the river. Some 252 fabric shops dumped their solid waste while 283 manufacturers disposed of their liquid waste into the river. (41/jun)
