Water supplies in some areas disrupted

JAKARTA (JP): Joint venture tap water firm PT PAM Lyonaise Jaya (Palyja) is installing tap water pipes in Tebet area, South Jakarta, and Pejompongan, Central Jakarta, that may disrupt water supplies to customers in those areas.

The company said in a statement on Tuesday that it was working on water pipe connections at the junction of Jl. Dr. Saharjo and Jl. Casablanca on Tuesday night, starting at 8 p.m.

Because of the work, water supplies to customers in the eastern side of Jl. Dr. Saharjo, in Tebet Barat and its surrounding areas may be affected.

The company said that it was also working on its pipe lines in Pejompongan area, that would also affect tap water supplies in that area, including customers in Bendungan Hilir.

The piping work in Pejompongan will last until 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Palyja is a joint venture between the city water company PAM Jaya and Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux of France. It provides tap water services to the western areas of Jakarta, while TPJ, a joint venture between PAM Jaya and Thames Water Overseas Ltd of Britain, operates the services in eastern Jakarta.
