Water Levels Recede at Katulampa Weir, Exposing Large Rocks

Water discharge at the Katulampa Weir in Bogor City has begun to decline with the onset of the dry season. Despite the receding water levels, the weir’s condition remains normal and has not yet impacted water supply for downstream areas or irrigation requirements.

Katulampa Weir officer Alwan stated that the decrease in water flow began two days ago, attributing the change to minimal rainfall in the upper reaches of the Ciliwung River. ‘The decrease in water discharge started occurring around two days ago due to weather factors,’ Alwan told CNBC Indonesia.

Alwan assured that although water levels are dropping, irrigation supplies remain secure. The current water stock is still sufficient, meaning distribution to downstream regions has not been affected. He noted that the water level at the weir is currently at a normal status. Officers are conducting regular monitoring to anticipate any changes in conditions, especially as the dry season progresses.

Alwan also recalled that the Katulampa Weir has previously recorded its lowest condition, with the water level reaching zero centimetres during a past dry season. Consequently, water discharge monitoring will continue to ensure supplies are maintained and as a precautionary measure should the dry season extend longer than expected.
