Water fee losses hurt city revenue

BOGOR (JP): Many businessmen here have not obtained permits for using groundwater, causing revenue losses in fees collected by the administration, an official said on Saturday.

"It's because they are reluctant to process the permit which has to be filed in Bandung," Hidayat Gandana, Bogor's Mining Agency chief said.

He urged the West Java administration to transfer the permit authorization to the Bogor office in a bid to properly list the number of artesian well customers.

"We expect to gain about Rp 1.2 billion per year in fees from the use of groundwater," Hidayat said. (24/edt)
