Water Channel Repair on Jalan Praja, South Jakarta, Targeted for Completion by End of July

The South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-Department has set a target to complete repairs to the drainage system on Jalan Praja Dalam, Kebayoran Lama Selatan, South Jakarta, by the end of July 2026.

“The work is being carried out according to the contract, running from 30 April to 31 July,” said the Head of the South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-Department, Santo, in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He stated that the repairs are a follow-up to community aspirations submitted through the Musyawarah Perencanaan Pembangunan (Musrenbang), the community development planning forum.

The project, he added, is being undertaken to increase drainage capacity and reduce the potential for waterlogging during heavy rain.

Furthermore, Santo noted that the work, which is being executed by a third party, covers a drainage channel spanning 947 metres.

The channel is being constructed using 60x60 cm U-ditch and 80x80 cm box culverts to optimise water flow in the area.

“Currently, progress has reached approximately 70 per cent. We hope it can be completed according to the target,” said Santo.

During the construction process, temporary barriers have been installed on parts of the road to support safety and ensure the smooth progress of the work.

“We urge residents to be careful when passing through and to follow the instructions of officers on the ground. We also apologise for any inconvenience caused during the construction process,” Santo added.

Meanwhile, local resident Rizky Fajrin noted that the work is being carried out neatly, including regarding the cleanliness of the project area and the continued accessibility of the road for the public.

“The soil from the excavations is cleaned immediately after the work is finished. We hope that until the entire drainage work is completed, the site remains clean so as not to cause complaints from residents,” said Rizky.
