JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A number of rubbish bins, the artworks of participants in a painting contest, will be placed at various strategic points in Cimahi City, West Java. The bins will not only serve as public facilities but also function as visual education media to campaign for environmental awareness. The event was organised by the Forum Komunikasi Pelukis Kota Cimahi (FORKIS) through a trash-bin painting contest held at the Pendopo DPRD Kota Cimahi on Saturday, 9 May 2026. About 180 participants from various age groups took part. In addition to promoting cleanliness, the bins created by participants are expected to beautify the surroundings and convey messages about the importance of keeping clean. The event is the result of collaboration between FORKIS Cimahi City and Propan Raya. Paint materials support was provided to support the event that raises the environmental theme. The FORKIS lead organiser, Endang, said the support helps the organisers deliver a creative activity that carries an educational message to the public. “Support from Propan Go Fast is very meaningful for us to deliver a creative activity that also has an environmental education message to the public,” Endang said, quoted on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. Through the event, the organisers combine art, education, and a campaign for environmental cleanliness in one programme. This water-based paint has several advantages, such as being economical without thinner, quick drying, odourless, versatile, and producing bright, attractive colours. Product Marketing Manager for Propan Raya, Kikis Yulianti, explained that the water-based product innovation is a modern solution amid rising prices of solvent-based paints and thinners. “Go Fast is a water-based solution for wood and metal coatings that is more economical without thinner. In addition, the product can be applied to various substrates such as walls, galvanised surfaces, and other surfaces requiring fast, durable finishing. Through this innovation, we aim to provide a more efficient and environmentally friendly painting solution,” she said. A member of DPKP Kota Cimahi, Sambas, hopes the event can raise public awareness about protecting the environment through daily habits. “Care for the environment starts with simple habits, such as disposing of waste in its proper place, reducing waste, and choosing more environmentally friendly products,” Sambas said. Through the event, organisers hope the cleanliness campaign can be delivered in a more creative and easily understood way by the public.
