Waste4Change Asserts Sustainability Cannot Stop at Mere Commitment
Jakarta, VIVA – A total of 42 Waste4Change partners received recognition at Award4Change for their contributions to promoting responsible waste management practices during 2025. The event was held in a special session as part of the Indonesia Green Building Festival 2026 in Jakarta.
At this year’s ceremony, Award4Change presented 43 awards to 42 partners and institutions, with one partner receiving two awards for different contributions.
Through four main categories, the Waste Management Improvement in Local Government award covers the contribution of regional governments in strengthening waste processing systems, capacity and infrastructure. The Strategic Partnership & Innovation Award highlights strategic partnerships, innovation, circular economy and community development.
Meanwhile, the Hospitality & Residential Excellence Award recognises the consistent implementation of waste management in the hospitality sector, educational institutions and residential areas. Awards were also given to organisations driving responsible waste management practices in corporate, industrial, building and commercial environments.
“Sustainability today can no longer stop at commitment. Organisations are increasingly expected to demonstrate how that commitment is translated into systems, investment and measurable impact. Through Award4Change, Waste4Change wants to highlight those who have moved beyond statements and delivered real change in waste management,” said Martinus D Adrian Manorek, CFO (Chief Financial Officer) or finance director of Waste4Change, quoted from his statement on Tuesday, 8 September 2026.
Award4Change recognises the various efforts made by organisations and partners in bringing about change through waste management. The recognition is not framed as a competition or ranking, but rather as a form of appreciation for the commitment, achievements, innovation and collaboration continuously built in facing waste management challenges together.
“These steps show that waste management is no longer merely a supporting function, but has become part of organisations’ strategic decisions. We hope the good practices recognised today can encourage more parties to take similar steps and accelerate the formation of a circular economy ecosystem in Indonesia,” Martinus continued.
The recipients’ contributions include consistent waste management across various locations, waste reduction and diversion, circular economy development, innovation implementation, and strengthened collaboration between the business sector, government and society. Thanks to these collective efforts, throughout 2025 some 38.62 million kilogrammes from collaborative waste reduction initiatives that would otherwise have ended up in final processing sites (TPA) or landfills became sustainable positive impact.
