Waste-to-Energy Project Set to Proceed Soon, Latest Update
Jakarta – The Investment Management Body for Daya Anagata Nusantara (BPI Danantara) has confirmed that the announcement of tender winners for the first phase Waste-to-Energy (WTE) project covering two cities – Denpasar (Bali) and Bekasi – will be made in the near term.
This announcement forms part of the broader WTE project development across four cities in the initial phase: Bekasi, Denpasar, Yogyakarta, and Bogor.
Fadli Rahman, Director of Investments at Danantara Investment Management (DIM), stated that Danantara is actively pursuing the completion of administrative processes and document finalisation so that the announcement of selected partners can be made shortly.
“Our intention is really to convey to prospective partners that yes, you have been selected as a partner for Denpasar and Bekasi. We are very much pursuing this in the near term,” Fadli said at Wisma Danantara on Friday (27 February 2026).
According to him, the tender process for Bali, Bekasi, Bogor, and Yogyakarta is currently ongoing. The official signing of cooperation agreements with the winners is planned for the second week of March 2026 by BPI Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani.
“It will be announced that the plan will be signed by Pak Rosan (Danantara CEO) in March 2026,” he said.
As noted, the Waste-to-Energy (WTE) programme has now entered the tender phase. A total of 24 experienced international companies have been registered as participants in the process.
All participants who pass the selection are required to form a consortium as part of the tender requirements. Of the total 24 participants, 20 companies are from China, three from Japan, and one from France.
“When we opened the tender earlier, we said there is value for a local partner. So they have already partnered beforehand. When they submitted their proposals, they already said I am partnering with A. Some are private companies and some are state-owned enterprises. So it is entirely up to them,” Fadli said.
