Waste Picker Killed by Commuter Train in Tanah Sareal, Bogor
An unidentified man was found dead after being struck by a commuter train on Sholeh Iskandar Street in Tanah Sareal, Bogor City, West Java. The man was a waste picker. Tanah Sareal Police Chief Kompol Doddy Rosjadi stated the incident occurred on Sunday, 31 May at 10:43 PM WIB. The victim was collecting scrap when he was hit. “As the commuter train passed from Jakarta towards Bogor Kota Station, the victim was scavenging for recyclables,” Doddy said on Monday, 1 June 2026. Prior to the incident, the victim was scavenging near street vendors. He was positioned alongside the railway track between Jakarta Kota and Bogor stations. “At that time, the victim was warned by a witness to be careful and not stand too close to the tracks, as there was a risk of a train,” he explained. However, the victim disregarded the warning and continued walking towards the railway track between Jakarta Kota and Bogor stations. “Shortly after, the victim was seen near the power pole at the end of the track, followed by a shout that he had been hit by the train,” he added. The victim was confirmed to have been struck by the commuter train. Doddy stated the train had stopped, and the victim was already deceased. “As a result of the accident, the victim was taken to Bogor Regional Hospital,” he concluded.
