Waste Management Facilities in Jakarta Settlements Upgraded to Mark World Environment Day

PLN Icon Plus recently upgraded waste management facilities in RT 002/RW 005, Kebon Pala Urban Village, Makassar District, Jakarta. The programme was carried out to commemorate World Environment Day through a series of Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) initiatives titled Iconnectivity for Green. In addition to supporting environmental conservation, the programme implemented by PLN Icon Plus Regional Jakarta and Banten aims to improve the quality of life for residents in the settlement area. PLN Icon Plus President Director Chipta Perdana explained that the facility upgrade involved renovating a waste collection point that had previously been damaged and had limited capacity. Through these improvements, the waste collection and transport process is expected to run more effectively. Beyond supporting environmental cleanliness, the programme is also part of implementing the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles upheld by PLN Icon Plus. The activity also supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly point 12 on responsible consumption and production through better domestic waste management. Chipta stated that environmental awareness must be realised through concrete actions that can be directly felt by the community. “Through Iconnectivity for Green, PLN Icon Plus delivers programmes that answer community needs while strengthening environmental awareness. We want every TJSL programme to provide tangible benefits for the community and support environmental sustainability,” Chipta said in a written statement in Jakarta on Friday (19/6). According to him, the TJSL programme is one form of the company’s commitment to strengthening the Green Ecosystem through collaboration with the community. With this approach, environmental sustainability is not solely the company’s responsibility but also involves resident participation. Meanwhile, General Manager of PLN Icon Plus Regional Jakarta and Banten, Arie Hans, expressed hope that the upgraded facility would be optimally utilised by the local community. “We hope this improved facility can be well utilised by the community, providing long-term benefits and supporting the creation of a cleaner and healthier environment,” said Ari. Through this programme, the company continues to strive to deliver contributions aligned with community needs. This effort is also part of strengthening the green ecosystem, which is expected to encourage the creation of a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment in the future.
