Waskita's subsidiary focuses on expanding its renewable energy portfolio
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Waskita Wado Energi (WWE), a subsidiary of PT Waskita Karya Infrastruktur (WKI), reiterates its focus on developing a portfolio of renewable energy (EBT). As part of the PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk group, the development of this EBT portfolio is being realised through the 50 megawatt (MW) Wado Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA Wado) in Sumedang Regency, West Java. The commitment was announced in line with the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders for the 2025 Book Year held on Thursday (21/05/2026). WWE Director Fitry Harianto said the company targets completing preparation stages before entering the construction and operation phases. “This project is a strategic step in supporting the national energy transition and strengthening the renewable energy portfolio,” Fitry said in an official statement, quoted on Saturday (23/05/2026). The plant is designed to utilise the flow of the Cimanuk River in areas including forest, plantation, and agricultural land to support sustainable energy production. PLTA Wado is expected to contribute to meeting electricity needs of the community while introducing environmentally friendly technology with relatively low maintenance costs. WWE Commissioner Fatkhur Rozaq expressed appreciation to management for performance in 2025. He said the Board of Commissioners will continue to guide the directors to improve performance through the application of good corporate governance (GCG). “We greatly appreciate the hard work shown by the PT Waskita Wado Energi management throughout 2025. The Board of Commissioners will always provide directions and suggestions to the Directors to continually improve performance by applying GCG principles consistently,” Fatkhur said. He also instructed that directors and all employees strengthen synergy to support the company’s strategic steps ahead. The WWE 2025 Book Year AGM was held in person and attended by shareholders’ proxies, the board of commissioners, and the company’s directors.
