HELSINKI (Reuter): Wartsila Diesel, part of Finnish diversified engineering group Oy Metra Ab, said in a statement on Thursday it would invest slightly over US$10 million in a new power plant modules and engines factory in Indonesia.
"The factory is in accordance with Wartsila Diesel's strategy to strengthen its local presence in the growing Asian markets," Wartsila Diesel said.
The plant will be built near Jakarta and is scheduled for operation in 1998, Wartsila Diesel said.
Wartsila Diesel has operated in Indonesia since 1978 in cooperation with [PT Stowindo Power], a local company which sells and services power plants and marine engines delivered to the country, it said.
