Warning of Potential Strong Winds Across Jakarta Through Tomorrow; Affected Areas Named
BPBD DKI Jakarta is issuing an early warning of strong winds in the Jakarta region. The warning is in effect from today until tomorrow.
Citing the Instagram account @bpbddkijakarta, the warning is based on information from the BMKG Stasiun Meteorologi Maritim Tanjung Priok regarding the Early Warning of Strong Winds in the Province of DKI Jakarta, the waters of Kepulauan Seribu and Jakarta Bay, valid 05-06 March 2026.
The details are as follows:
Affected areas: the waters of Kepulauan Seribu and Jakarta Bay (potential maximum wind speeds of 20-25 knots).
Increase vigilance and anticipate the impact of potential strong winds of 20-30 knots (37 km/h-55 km/h). Beaufort scale 5-7, which could occur on 5-6 March 2026.
Wave heights of 0.5-1.25 metres (low): the waters of Kepulauan Seribu, Jakarta Bay, Bekasi-Karawang waters, Subang waters, and Indramayu waters.
Please note the high risk to maritime safety:
• Fishermen’s boats (wind speeds exceeding 15 knots and waves above 1.25 m)
• Barges (wind speeds above 16 knots and waves above 1.5 m)
• Ferries (wind speeds above 21 knots and waves above 2.5 m)
• Large vessels, such as cargo ships/cruise ships (wind speeds above 27 knots and waves above 4.0 m)

Be aware of hazards from strong winds, such as fallen trees, billboards and unstable poles, non-permanent coastal buildings prone to collapse in gusty winds, and vessel contact from ships berthed too closely at ports.
Avoid sheltering under large trees or billboards during windy weather; reinforce temporary or non-permanent structures on the coast; maintain safe docking distances to prevent damage from vessels rubbing against one another.
