Warning! AI-Manipulated Video of Sultan HB X Circulating

The Yogyakarta Special Region Government (Pemda DIY) has stated that Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X has fallen victim to AI manipulation. In the video, Sultan HB X appears to be delivering a statement regarding a certain case. The official Pemda DIY account @humasjogja also uploaded the AI-manipulated video with a hoax label. The public is urged not to believe or disseminate the video if they encounter it elsewhere. In the uploaded video, Sultan HB X appears to be speaking in front of a camera, addressing a matter concerning antique coins. However, the full statement has been censored. It was emphasised that the statement is not official documentation and is the result of AI manipulation. ‘If you find this video on social media, please do not believe or spread it. Do not easily trust uploads claiming to be from the Governor of DIY, especially those relating to personal matters,’ wrote Pemda DIY, as quoted by detikJogja on Wednesday (22/7/2026). Pemda DIY also called on the public to be wiser in using social media, particularly by confirming any circulating information. ‘Technology can provide many benefits, but it can also be misused to spread misleading information. Therefore, do not immediately believe every piece of information circulating,’ it concluded.
