Warning! AI-Manipulated Video of Sultan HB X Circulating

The Yogyakarta Special Region Government (Pemda DIY) has stated that the Governor of DIY, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono (HB) X, has become the victim of AI manipulation. In the video, Sultan HB X appears to deliver a statement regarding a certain case.

The official Pemda DIY account @humasjogja also uploaded the AI-manipulated video with a hoax label. The public has been asked not to believe or spread the video should they encounter it elsewhere.

In the uploaded video, Sultan HB X appears to be speaking in front of the camera. Sultan HB X appears to be discussing a matter concerning ancient coins.

However, the full statement has been censored. It has been emphasised that the statement is not an official record and is the result of AI manipulation.

“If Sedulur (dear residents) come across this video on social media, please do not believe it or spread it. Do not easily trust posts made in the name of the Governor of DIY, especially those relating to personal matters,” wrote Pemda DIY, as quoted by detikJogja on Wednesday (22/7/2026).

Pemda DIY also encouraged the public to be wiser when using social media, particularly by verifying any information that is circulating.

“Technology can bring many benefits, but it can also be misused to spread misleading information. Therefore, do not immediately believe every piece of information that circulates — make sure to verify its truth first,” the statement concluded.
