Warner, Toomer to visit tsunami areas
BANDA ACEH, Indonesia: Quarterback Kurt Warner and wide receiver Amani Toomer of the NFL's New York Giants will visit the tsunami-ravaged Indonesian province of Aceh to highlight United Nations relief efforts there.
The men, accompanied by their wives, will help load and distribute relief supplies for the World Food Program on Feb. 12- 13, WFP representative Heather Hill said in the provincial capital Banda Aceh.
The men "will be lending their support to the WFP relief effort by helping with food distributions, visiting the tsunami- affected areas, and generally working on the front lines," Hill said.
Numerous celebrities have visited tsunami affected areas in Thailand to support relief efforts, but far fewer have made it to isolated Aceh, which was far worse affected.
More than US$4 million (euro3 million) has been raised by the NFL, its teams, owners, players and fans to support the tsunami relief efforts. --AP
