Warmth Between Prabowo and Modi Leaves Deep Impression on Indian Diaspora
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The warmth shared between President Prabowo Subianto and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their visit to the Prambanan Temple complex in the Special Region of Yogyakarta on Wednesday left a deep impression on a number of residents and members of the Indian diaspora.
Among the crowd, several members of the Indian community who have long settled in Yogyakarta could not hide their emotion.
One of them was Dev Anand, an Indian national who has lived in Yogyakarta for 37 years. For him, the opportunity to meet President Prabowo and PM Modi in person was an experience he had never imagined.
“It’s like a dream. We never thought, never imagined something like this could happen. To shake hands with President Prabowo and with Mr Modi. It is extraordinary for us. It feels as though our lives are now complete,” said Dev with a happy expression, according to a statement received in Jakarta.
He also expressed gratitude for the warm welcome Indonesia extended to his country’s leader. According to Dev, the attention shown by President Prabowo to PM Modi and the Indian community left a very deep impression.
“Today I am extremely happy. Thank you, Indonesia. Not only Mr Modi, but Mr Prabowo responded so warmly and received us so warmly. Wow, I don’t think there has ever been a president like that,” he said.
According to Dev, the relationship between President Prabowo and PM Modi reflects the closeness of two leaders who both prioritise the interests of their people.
In simple terms, he described the two as figures with the same spirit of dedication.
“It feels like one mother, two children. One mother, two children. Working for the people. That is what I think fits,” he said.
Dev expressed hope that the good relations between Indonesia and India will continue to develop under the leadership of the two figures. He also expressed appreciation to President Prabowo for the various efforts made for society.
“We are deeply, deeply grateful to President Prabowo as well. May Indonesia keep advancing, always advancing. Long live a prosperous Indonesia,” said Dev.
The visit of President Prabowo and PM Modi to Prambanan Temple was a source of particular pride. The presence of the two heads of state at one of the world’s cultural heritage sites was seen as further elevating Prambanan’s image as a destination of high historical and civilisational value.
Their presence at Prambanan Temple not only strengthened cultural diplomacy between Indonesia and India, but also created a moment of genuine closeness with the people.
