Warm Moments of Megawati During Umrah with Family, Prananda Helps with Tahalul
Jakarta - Fifth President of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri performed umrah at the Grand Mosque (Masjidil Haram) in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Warm moments unfolded during the umrah procession.
Megawati and her family performed the umrah on Saturday afternoon (14/2/2026) local time. The PDIP General Chairwoman was accompanied by her son and daughter, M Prananda Prabowo with his wife Nancy Prananda, and House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani.
Also in attendance were Indonesian Consul General in Jeddah Yusron B Ambary, PDIP Central Board Head for Foreign Affairs Ahmad Basarah, and Indonesian Ambassador to Tunisia Zuhairi Misrawi, who also serves as the (non-active) PDIP Central Board Head for Religious Affairs.
Megawati began the umrah by entering the state of ihram at the Tan’im Mosque. Afterward, Megawati arrived at the Grand Mosque through the Royal Guest House entrance and performed sunnah prayers before the Asr prayer.
Megawati and her family then began the umrah procession under the guidance of Ustaz Muhammad Hafidz Makmun, while Gus Mis, as Zuhairi is affectionately known, led the prayers during the tawaf process. Megawati and her two children offered prayers for their family and the Indonesian nation. The tawaf proceeded solemnly.
The umrah procession continued with sa’i and concluded with tahalul, or the cutting of hair. Initially, Prananda had his hair cut by the umrah guide, Ustaz Muhammad Hafidz Makmun. Prananda then cut the hair of his mother Megawati, his sister Puan, and his wife Nancy Prananda.
“Please cut the hair at the back,” Puan said to Prananda with a smile.
Megawati helped lift Puan’s veil during the process. Afterward, Prananda cut his wife’s hair. Puan then kissed and embraced her mother, followed by Prananda and his wife doing the same. Megawati beamed with joy.
After the umrah procession was completed, Megawati posed for photos together with her two children and their spouses.
