Warm Moment as President Prabowo Receives Visit from Megawati at the Palace
President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from Indonesia’s fifth president, Megawati Soekarnoputri, at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday afternoon (19/3). The meeting, held on the 29th day of Ramadan 1447 H, served as an important moment in strengthening ties among national figures ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
In a post on his official Instagram account, President Prabowo emphasised that the meeting was part of efforts to maintain ongoing communication at the national leadership level.
“On the 29th day of the month of Ramadan ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, I received Indonesia’s fifth president, Ibu Hj. Megawati Soekarnoputri, at Merdeka Palace. This meeting continues the ties among the nation’s leaders,” wrote the President via the @prabowo account.
A warm atmosphere was evident as Prabowo personally welcomed Megawati’s arrival at the palace’s outer porch. Megawati, wearing blue-themed batik, was accompanied by House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani.
Meanwhile, the President was accompanied by Deputy House Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and the President’s son, Ragowo Hediprasetyo Djojohadikusumo (Didit).
During the meeting, Prabowo and Megawati sat together on one sofa, demonstrating closeness and a familial atmosphere. This encounter is a continuation of the series of national figures’ ties initiated by President Prabowo.
Previously, on Tuesday (3/3), Prabowo had also invited several former state leaders, including Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Joko Widodo, Jusuf Kalla, Boediono, and Ma’ruf Amin.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya explained that such forums are designed to discuss various strategic national and global issues.
“The President wishes to directly absorb views, experiences, and input from national figures to enrich perspectives and strengthen the direction of future government policies. The President wants to exchange ideas with those figures,” said Teddy.
