Warm Moment as Prabowo Welcomes Jokowi to the Palace: Forgive Us Body and Soul, Sir

JAKARTA - A warm moment was evident when President Prabowo Subianto welcomed Indonesia’s 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Saturday (21/3/2026).

“Sir, forgive us body and soul, from the best of the righteous,” said Prabowo to Jokowi while pressing his hands together in front of his chest and bowing his head.

Jokowi arrived at the palace with his wife Iriana, youngest son Kaesang Pangarep and his wife Erina Gudono, and their child.

After the welcome, Prabowo invited Jokowi and his family into Merdeka Palace. The two then held a closed-door conversation inside.

For context, Prabowo held a halalbihalal event at the palace to mark Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, after performing Eid prayers in Aceh Tamiang.

The halalbihalal event in Jakarta was also open to the general public from afternoon until evening. Prabowo also directly greeted members of the public who came at the tent in the central palace grounds.

Meanwhile, for this Eid, Jokowi celebrated Eid al-Fitr in Jakarta. Jokowi performed Eid al-Fitr prayers at Jami’ Al-Bina Mosque, Gelora Bung Karno (GBK).

After Eid prayers, Jokowi immediately returned home to gather with his children and grandchildren.

“Patience, forgiveness,” he said.
