Warkopolim in South Jakarta Catches Fire, Suspected Cause is Air Fryer
A fire occurred at the Warkopolim café owned by Gofar Hilman, located on Jalan Melawai X, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, at approximately 1.04 a.m. Western Indonesian Time early this morning. The object that caught fire was a shophouse (Warkop Polim), said the Head of the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-Department, Asril Rizal, in a statement on Wednesday (24/6). Asril stated the fire was suspected to have originated from sparks emitted by an air fryer appliance, which then ignited other objects. “There was a small spark from the fryer that caught on residual oil on the wall. It then grew larger and spread to the exhaust duct,” he said. During the incident, employees attempted to extinguish the fire using a light fire extinguisher while contacting the fire department. Asril conveyed that 6 units and 25 personnel were deployed to the location to put out the blaze. The extinguishing process began at 1.10 a.m. and was declared complete at 1.55 a.m. “The estimated loss is approximately Rp10 million,” Asril said.
