Warehouse linked to bomb attacks

JAKARTA: The police said on Friday that the explosives storehouse discovered in Kamal, Tegal Alur, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, was linked to the recent string of bomb attacks in Jakarta.

"The explosives (found in the storehouse) are related to a wave of bomb attacks in several places in Jakarta, including Eksotik discotheque, Hotel Jayakarta, and an attempted bombing at the parking lot of Sarinah shopping center," said National Police chief Gen. Da'i Bachtiar following his visit to the scene.

Da'i said that the explosives from the storehouse were used in the Graha Cijantung blast early last month. One of the suspects in the case, Syahrual Ariadi, also used the explosives to plant bombs in Medan and Binjai, both in North Sumatra.

Police disclosed on Thursday that they had found a large explosives storehouse in Kamal, Tegal Alur, Cengkareng, West Jakarta. They also managed to arrest Kusnaedi and Aji, who are, respectively, the owner and guard of the raided storehouse. --JP
