A fire destroyed a warehouse in the area of Jalan Pos Pengumben Raya, RT. 07 / RW. 05 Kelapa Dua, Kebun Jeruk, West Jakarta, on Thursday (13/8) evening, at around 11.00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time.

“The object on fire is a warehouse, a low-rise building type,” stated the official report from the Command Center of the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) when confirmed in Jakarta in the early hours of Friday.

A total of 17 fire engines with a strength of 80 firefighting personnel were deployed in stages to extinguish the fire.

Firefighting operations commenced immediately after officers arrived at the scene at 11.07 p.m. Western Indonesian Time. After battling the blaze for approximately 30 minutes, the flames were successfully contained.

“The firefighting operation was completed at 00.32 a.m. Western Indonesian Time,” the Command Center stated.

As of now, the cause of the fire remains unknown. However, no casualties were reported as a result of the fire.

In a video uploaded by the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service, the fire, which occurred near the main road, temporarily caused traffic congestion. At the burning object, black smoke could be seen from a distance.

Residents also crowded the area around the scene after learning of the fire and witnessed the arrival of a number of fire engines.
