Warehouse in West Jakarta Caught in Fire, Explosions Reported
A warehouse located on Jalan Peternakan Raya, Kapuk, Cengkeng, West Jakarta, caught fire on Monday (18/05/2026) afternoon. Footage obtained by Kompas.com shows flames rising high enough to reach the blue and white roof of the warehouse. Large explosions were also recorded, which intensified the fire consuming the interior of the building.
“A fire has occurred at a warehouse located on Jalan Peternante Raya, Gang Semut, RT 06 RW 04, Kapuk Village, Cengkring District, West Jakarta City,” stated Syaiful in an official statement on Monday. Syaiful explained that authorities received a fire report from a local resident at 14:23 WIB. The fire brigade departed one minute later, at 14:24 WIB, and arrived at the scene by 14:30 WIB.
Firefighting operations commenced at 14:31 WIB. A total of 19 fire engines and 95 personnel were deployed to extinguish the flames. As of now, the specific type of goods stored in the warehouse and the cause of the fire remain unknown, as the fire continues to burn inside the building.
