Wardiman to open Edufair

JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Education and Culture Wardiman
Djojonegoro is scheduled to open a four-day education fair called
Edufair Jakarta '96, which will take place at the lower lobby of
the Jakarta Convention Center.

The fair, scheduled to begin on July 4, is in celebration of
National Children's Day, which falls on July 22.

Organized by private firm PT BisnisAsia MitraBuana, it will
attempt to provide alternative ways of properly rearing children,
and will call on parents to be aware of the negative influences
of information from various media sources.

The first-ever event of its kind to be held in Indonesia, the
fair is under the theme "The enrichment of children's critical
minds and creativity".

Children and parents, as well as educators, will benefit from
the fair, the committee said.

Various activities will be held at the fair, including
seminars and presentations on child education, various children's
games and acrobatics. (26)
