The United States is reported to have lost military equipment valued at almost US$2 billion or around Rp33 trillion during military operations against Iran since Saturday, 28 February. Based on estimates and data compiled by Anadolu Agency, the losses stem from Iranian retaliation against American military assets and facilities in the Middle East.

One of the largest losses involves the AN/FPS-132 early warning radar located at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which was reportedly struck during an Iranian missile attack and sustained damage with an estimated value of US$1.1 billion or around Rp18.6 trillion.

Additionally, on Sunday, 1 March, three F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets were destroyed due to a mis-identification incident by Kuwait’s air defence system. Although all six crew members survived, the three aircraft were destroyed with replacement costs estimated at US$282 million or around Rp4.7 trillion.

Iran was also reported to have attacked the Headquarters of the United States Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain, damaging two satellite communication terminals and several buildings in the complex. The targeted satellite terminal is identified as AN/GSC-52B, with an estimated value of around US$20 million or Rp337 billion, including installation costs.

Moreover, Iran claims to have destroyed components of the AN/TPY-2 radar in the THAAD ballistic missile defence system placed in the Al-Ruwais industrial area of the United Arab Emirates. Satellite imagery from open-source intelligence reports shows activity at the location. The damaged radar components are estimated to be worth US$500 million or Rp8.4 trillion.

Combined, the value of American military assets damaged in Iran’s retaliatory strikes is estimated at around US$1.902 billion or more than Rp33 trillion.

So far, Iran is reported to have targeted at least seven US military sites in the Middle East since the United States and Israel launched strikes against Iran. These sites include the Fifth Fleet Headquarters in Bahrain, Camp Arifjan, Ali Al Salem Air Base, and Camp Buehring in Kuwait, the Erbil base in Iraq, and the Jebel Ali Port in the United Arab Emirates.

Beyond military bases, several US diplomatic missions in the region have also been targeted. The US Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was hit by two drone strikes causing a small fire and limited material damage. The Washington Post reports that CIA facilities within the embassy complex were impacted as well.

Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Kuwait City was attacked by drones and missiles, with smoke observed around the embassy complex. The building was subsequently closed pending further notice, and non-essential staff and their families were evacuated.

In Dubai, the US Consulate General was struck by a drone attack that hit the parking area near the consulate building. A fire broke out but authorities contained it, and no major structural damage was reported.

Post-attack, the United States and Canada began evacuating thousands of citizens from the Middle East.
