War Ticket Participants for 81st Independence Day Reach 336,000, Palace Adds Quota

The government has decided to increase the quota for participants attending the 81st anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day on 17 August at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta by 3,400.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the additional quota was granted due to the high level of public enthusiasm for the event’s war ticket system.

“That is why yesterday we decided as the organising committee to add one more block with a capacity of approximately 3,400,” Pras said after a meeting at the House of Representatives on Monday (10/8).

During the three-day war ticket period from 5 to 8 August, the number of participants registering for the Independence Day event at the Palace reached 336,000. Pras noted that the Palace had initially only provided a quota of 5,500.

“So from the agenda or slots, we prepared approximately 5,500. The number of registrants over the four days it was open reached more than 336,000,” he said.

Pras said participants attending the Independence Day ceremony at the Palace on 17 August will be divided into two sessions: a morning ceremony and a flag-lowering ceremony in the afternoon.

“We will certainly divide it into two sessions, namely the morning ceremony and the flag-lowering ceremony, to increase or accommodate the number so that far more members of the public can attend at the Palace,” he said.
