War of banners raging in Palu

PALU, Central Sulawesi: A war of banners is raging in Palu
with election day around the corner. Political parties are
fighting for every strategic place to put up their flags.

A telecommunication tower of Komselindo has become the hottest
spot where party activists compete for the highest point to fix
their banners.

So far, the champions are the Indonesian Democratic Party of
Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) and National Mandate Party (PAN),
Antara reported.

PDI Perjuangan's large banner has been fledging on top of the
tower and PAN's just below it. On the lower levels are numerous
banners of other political parties.

PDI Perjuangan sympathizers are proud to have hoisted their
banners the highest but PAN supporters are just as proud because
although their banner is lower, its size is bigger and more
conspicuous than PDI Perjuangan's.

"Size and visibility do matter," said Mahmuddin, 45, a fanatic
PAN supporter. (pan)
