Wea is worried about the appointment of unprofessional people as
chiefs of local manpower and transmigration offices.

He said on Tuesday that their presence could harm the
development programs of manpower and transmigration departments
in the regions.

"There are now many former subdistrict chiefs and former
mayors, as well as other former officials, serving as heads of
regional manpower and transmigration offices," Nuwa Wea told a
meeting in Jakarta.

"They don't understand manpower affairs, so they will
certainly not be able to resolve the problems in their regions,"
he added.

He said it took a long time to understand manpower problems
due to their relative complexity.

The minister also warned the International Labor Organization
(ILO) against carrying out unilateral programs with regional
administrations without consulting his ministry.

"I remind the ILO to conduct their activities through the
Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration." --Antara
