Wanted Major Illegal Prescription Drug Dealer in Tanah Abang Successfully Arrested
The Narcotics Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police has successfully arrested a man listed as a wanted person (DPO) in connection with the illegal trafficking of ‘List G’ prescription drugs. The suspect, identified by the initials RS (38), was apprehended in the Tanah Abang area, Central Jakarta, which is suspected to be his primary operational base as a major dealer.
AKBP Ade Candra, Head of Sub-directorate 3 of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Narcotics Directorate, confirmed that the arrest was carried out by the Operational Team on Tuesday (1/9) at approximately 11:00 WIB. RS was detained in the parking area of a boarding house after police received information from the public regarding his whereabouts.
“The police subsequently secured RS (38) and conducted an initial examination of the perpetrator before bringing him to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Narcotics Directorate office for further interrogation,” said Ade Candra in Jakarta on Wednesday (2/9).
The arrest of RS is the result of developments from a similar case uncovered on Saturday (25/7). In the previous operation, police had already arrested five other suspects, namely K (40), AM (43), B (40), GR (25), and RN (34).
RS has been identified as playing a central role as a major dealer within the illegal prescription drug distribution network in the Tanah Abang district. His role was revealed following intensive examinations of the five suspects previously apprehended.
Ade emphasised that the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Narcotics Directorate is fully committed to eradicating all forms of illegal trafficking and abuse of narcotics and prohibited drugs within their jurisdiction. He ensured that no space will be provided for perpetrators of narcotics crimes.
Currently, RS, along with the five other suspects and all seized evidence, are being held at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Narcotics Directorate office. The six suspects are undergoing further investigation to be held accountable for their actions under the applicable law.
