Wamensos Requests Information on Open People's School Procurement
“If we do not explain it comprehensively, the public will continue to seek information,” said Agus Jabo in a written statement on Saturday (9/5/2026). He reminded that the People’s School is one of the President’s priority programmes that must be safeguarded from all forms of interference. This was expressed by him during the clarification activity for the People’s School procurement at the Integrated Centre Pangudi Luhur meeting room in Bekasi today. “Because this is the President’s priority programme, no one is allowed to interfere, whether technically or through deviations,” he stated. In the activity, an examination and clarification were conducted with the Inspectorate General Team regarding public concerns over the issue of price markups in the procurement of shoes and equipment for the People’s School. The discussion covered the preparation of technical specifications, the mechanism for selecting providers, the basis for the budget ceiling, and the procurement stages for the 2026 Fiscal Year. Agus Jabo emphasised that, on the instructions of Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf, a special team has been formed to conduct an in-depth internal audit, and the results will be submitted to law enforcement authorities. “I request that this investigation be conducted thoroughly, because we will then hand it over to law enforcement,” he revealed. He targeted that the investigation results could be completed as soon as possible. “Next week, it must already be clear regarding this procurement investigation,” he said. Concluding his directions, he expressed appreciation to all levels of employees for their hard work in succeeding the People’s School programme. He also invited all levels to continue maintaining solidarity and working according to the rules. “We must be solid, work according to the rules, and continue working with joy,” he explained. Meanwhile, the Inspector for Support Affairs, S. Hartanto, stated that the procurement process has gone through qualification stages as well as benchmarking, including referencing comparative studies at Taruna Nusantara School. This is to ensure the suitability of the required specifications.
