Jayapura — Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Ribka Haluk emphasised the importance of synchronising the vision and mission of regional heads with the Papua Province RPJMD and the policies of the National RPJMN. ‘This is important so that the direction of regional development aligns with national development priorities,’ she said in Jayapura on Friday. According to Ribka, every regional head elected through regional elections presents a vision and development mission for their region. ‘On Thursday (5 March) I attended the Musrenbang for the Papua Province RPJMD, where during the meeting I reminded attendees that the provincial, district and city RPJMDs, as well as the national RPJMD, must be synchronised to avoid overlap,’ she said. ‘Good coordination is needed so that Musrenbang at the regional level can run in line with central government policies,’ she added. She added that she hopes ministries and related agencies can attend Musrenbang at the regional level, especially the provincial Musrenbang. According to her, with their attendance ministries and agencies can directly monitor and see various on-the-ground obstacles, so that together they oversee and support development in the region. ‘Moreover, Papua’s provincial government currently faces several development challenges, including high poverty and unemployment rates, low regional fiscal capacity, and growth that remains limited,’ she said. Therefore, regional governments are encouraged to undertake transformation and accelerate development across strategic sectors. ‘One area that needs attention is raising Papua’s Human Development Index (HDI) through strengthening education, health, and boosting the community’s economy,’ she added.
