Wal Mart to meet vendors

JAKARTA (JP): Wal Mart International, a major department store
chain of the United States, will meet its Indonesian vendors on
the Jakarta fairground here on June 21 and June 22.

Multipolar Corporation, the Indonesian franchisee of the
chain, announced yesterday that the meeting would be attended by
Wal Mart's president and chief executive officer, Bobby L.
Martin, and several other senior executives, including John Ryan
and Lee Stucky.

The Wal Mart executives will explain the store chain's global
trade activities during the two-day meeting, which is expected to
be opened by Minister of Industry and Trade Tunky Ariwibowo.

Wal Mart, which operates around 3,000 outlets in seven
countries, including the United States, Canada and Mexico, will
soon open its store in Lippo Karawaci, its first outlet in
Indonesia. (hen)
