Wakatobi mobilises local food for climate change adaptation

ANTARA – The Wakatobi Regency Government, in Southeast Sulawesi, continues to mobilise the use of local foods as an adaptation measure to confront climate change. This step is taken because the Wakatobi archipelago is considered vulnerable to rising sea levels, changes in rainfall patterns, and rising sea temperatures that could threaten community food security. Through a village fund-based food security programme, the local foods movement has now been realised in 75 villages, involving the community and PKK cadres.
