Waiting for trains becomes more comfortable with coworking space at Gambir Station
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Passengers using long-distance trains from Gambir Station in Jakarta for their homecoming journeys have reported feeling more comfortable with the presence of a coworking space in the waiting area of this Type A major station.
Several passengers were observed working on their laptops and tablets in the shared workspace located in front of Gambir Station’s Meeting Room whilst waiting for their trains to arrive. Many others simply sat and waited by reading books available in the space, most of which were novels.
One passenger encountered by ANTARA at Gambir Station on Sunday, Lubna (20), acknowledged that the facility was quite helpful, particularly for someone who frequently struggled to find a place to work on university assignments whilst waiting for her train.
“I came here before and only recently noticed this coworking space. I find it really helpful because I always bring my laptop but usually don’t know what to do with it,” she said.
The student, who was heading to Yogyakarta for her homecoming, stated that the facilities provided in the shared workspace were quite comprehensive, including electrical outlets for charging devices.
“It’s not too noisy here either, and I can still hear the train announcements and other station information. It’s really convenient,” Lubna added.
The shared workspace consists of three desks with four chairs at each desk, providing a total capacity of 12 people.
The facility is located beside the main staircase leading to Level 1 of Gambir Station. To access the coworking space, passengers must enter through the East VIP Entrance in the central part of the station or through the ticket gate from the South Hall of Gambir Station.
In addition to the shared workspace, Gambir Station also provides a children’s playground, shower and locker facilities, a mosque, ATMs, and a transit hotel.
