Wae Rebo Tourism Reopens from 1 August After 12-Day Closure

The Wae Rebo tourism destination in Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), will reopen to visitors starting tomorrow, Saturday (1/8/2026). The destination, often referred to as ‘paradise above the clouds’, had been closed since 20 July 2026, or nearly two weeks, due to heavy rain in the region.

“It will reopen tomorrow, 1 August,” said the Chairman of the Wae Rebo Cultural Preservation Institution, Mikael Tonso, on Friday (31/7/2026) evening. Mikael stated that the weather in Wae Rebo has improved and there is no longer heavy rain affecting the area.

Wae Rebo is situated at an altitude of 1,000 metres above sea level. The village features seven iconic traditional houses known as Mbaru Niang, which are conical in shape. Wae Rebo offers beautiful landscapes and a unique culture, with visitors also experiencing the warm hospitality of the local residents upon arrival.
