VP worries about impaired morals
JAKARTA: Vice President Hamzah Haz has expressed deep concern about television programs which impair people's morals.
"The Vice President has criticized television programs that damage moral values," the Association of Nahdlatul Ulama Youths (IPNU) said after meeting with Hamzah in Jakarta on Tuesday.
IPNU head Al Amien Nur Wahab did not say which programs were discussed but mentioned televised performances of dangdut singers, an apparent reference to Inul Daratista, famous for her pelvic "drill" dance.
During the meeting, the group also expressed concerns over violence against journalists, especially the attacks on the Tempo office last week by a group of people claiming to represent businessman Tomy Winata.
It urged police to investigate the case and fight thuggery. --Antara
