While the economic situation has yet to return to normal,
there are still government officials who make the public nervous
with their statements.

Our Vice President, Hamzah Haz, said that family planning
would not make anybody smart or rich.

If everybody agreed with the Vice President, then countries
wouldn't send delegates to study how family planning has been
implemented in Indonesia. It must also be remembered that in
1988, the United Nations gave Indonesia a citation for its
success with family planning.

If the family planning drive in Indonesia fails, how large
will the Indonesian population become? Family planning seeks to
limit population growth so that the quality of life can be
improved.

If the Vice President's suggestion is followed, what kinds of
jobs would be suitable for some 57,000 family planning field
workers? Failing to find new jobs, they could easily become
criminals. But please don't blame them. The question is whether
or not the police are ready to face an increased crime rate.
Hopefully, none of this will come to pass.
