VP Gibran's Regional Visits a Strategic Assignment from President Prabowo, Says Analyst

Director of Rumah Politik Indonesia, Fernando Emas, has assessed that the high intensity of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s working visits to dozens of provinces is a strategic move to strengthen stability and government programmes under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto. Based on records, Vice President Gibran has visited more than one hundred locations spread across over 30 provinces to absorb the aspirations of the public, religious figures, and Islamic clerics. Fernando views these visits as a formal division of tasks from President Prabowo to the Vice President to ensure that the government’s flagship programmes run effectively at the regional level. “It is only natural that Gibran, who is still young, is assigned by President Prabowo to conduct visits to the regions to strengthen the government and ensure the success of flagship programmes,” Fernando said in a statement in Jakarta, Tuesday. Fernando urged various parties to stop creating narratives that pit President Prabowo Subianto against Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. He emphasised that this dual leadership pattern is complementary, with Gibran’s field activities focused on maintaining public conduciveness while bringing the government closer to the people. “This proves that the Prabowo and Gibran partnership strengthens and complements each other, and there is no effort to pursue individual agendas but rather to ensure the continuity of the government until the end of its term,” he explained. Furthermore, Fernando assessed that Gibran’s performance in assisting the head of state has answered the public’s initial concerns and pessimism at the start of the term. He expressed hope that the Vice President would continue his agenda of reviewing regions to hear the public’s obstacles firsthand, to then be coordinated with President Prabowo to deliver targeted solutions.
