VP Gibran Ensures Bayung Lencir Toll Road Development on Target
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming has confirmed that the construction of the Bayung Lencir Toll Road, which connects South Sumatra and Jambi, is progressing according to target. He made the statement during a project inspection on Thursday (16/7). Gibran emphasised that completing the toll road on schedule is crucial to support President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to strengthen inter-regional connectivity and drive economic growth. “We are ensuring that the construction progress runs optimally so that it is completed on target and the benefits are truly felt by the community,” Gibran said. During the inspection, Gibran was accompanied by Hutama Karya’s Director of Operations III, Iwan Hermawan, who outlined the development progress and the benefits of the toll section once operational. Iwan explained that the toll road would significantly cut travel time and distance, reducing the journey from approximately 210 kilometres to 170 kilometres. The Betung-Jambi Toll Road is part of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road network, designed to enhance inter-regional connectivity and facilitate the smooth flow of community mobility and logistics distribution. The entire project is targeted for completion by 2027.
