The meeting took place at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, according to a statement from the Vice Presidential Secretariat.

Vice President Gibran used the forum to gather concerns, aspirations, and suggestions from madrasa teachers, with a special focus on technology-based capacity-building and regulatory issues related to welfare and employment status.

He lauded the PGM for its critical role in advocating the interests of madrasa teachers across the country and assured his guests that the government would take their input into account in shaping future policies.

Gibran acknowledged the association’s concerns and emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to expand the reach of training programs for madrasa educators nationwide, ensuring equitable access to professional development support.

PGM Chairman Yaya Ropandi noted that his side sought support from the vice president for intensifying the use of technology in training programs as part of strategic efforts to boost the quality of madrasa personnel, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence and robotics.

He proposed implementing such programs in all provinces to boost the quality of madrasa education.

“Mr. Vice President welcomed our input, signaling his support for the capacity-building initiative,” Ropandi added.

He then alluded to welfare, stressing the need for a regulation enabling teachers at private madrasas to be promoted as contract-based employees of regional governments.

In addition to substantive matters, the PGM also used the reception to invite the vice president to attend its 18th anniversary and awarding events in Bandung, West Java, as a way to appreciate his support for madrasa teachers.
